Green Tea (Camellia sinensis) extract is extremely rich in biologically active polyphenols, the most representative of which is Epigallocatechin 3-O gallate (EGCG), but it also contains other polyphenols belonging to the same chemical group. When topically applied on the skin in human clinical testing, green tea polyphenols have been reported to prevent UVB induced redness and DNA challenge.
